ACE 2021 Health and Safety Information

IJCAHPO is committed to keeping your health and safety a priority. The ACE team is continuing to monitor health and safety protocols of the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the City of New Orleans to ensure the well-being of all attendees and staff on-site at ACE 2021. Please continue to visit this page for ACE 2021 updates.

IJCAHPO is working with the Hilton New Orleans Riverside regarding current health and safety guidelines for ACE 2021. The on-site program has been designed to allow for social distancing and sanitization requirements during all educational sessions and social events. IJCAHPO will continue to follow all health and safety guidelines and on-site attendees/staff will be required to comply with all protocols.

Important Note: All attendees voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19 when attending ACE 2021 meetings and events. All program participants will be required to follow all hotel protocols.

Vaccination Requirement

IJCAHPO’s leadership has endorsed the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s directive which requires that all on-site meeting participants, including staff, exhibitors, and guests, will be required to be fully vaccinated and show proof of COVID-19 vaccination before being allowed to participate in ACE and AAO activities in New Orleans.

Prior to arriving on site, attendees will be asked to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated with a vaccine approved for emergency use by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or the World Health Organization (WHO).

Accepted Vaccines
Pfizer-BioNTech
Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen
Moderna
AstraZeneca-Oxford
Sinopharm
Serum Institute of India: Covishield
Sinovac: CoronaVac

Definition of Fully Vaccinated
By November 10, 2021, it must be:
-2 weeks (14 days) after your dose of an accepted single-dose COVID-19 vaccine; or
-2 weeks (14 days) after your second dose of an accepted 2-dose series COVID-19 vaccine; or
-2 weeks (14 days) after you received the full series of an active (not placebo) COVID-19 vaccine in the U.S.-based AstraZeneca or Novavax COVID-19 vaccine trials; or
-2 weeks (14 days) after you received 2 doses of any “mix-and-match” combination of accepted COVID-19 vaccines administered at least 17 days apart.*

If you don’t meet these requirements, you are NOT fully vaccinated.

* CDC has not recommended the use of mix-and-match COVID-19 vaccine primary series. However, such strategies are increasingly common in many countries outside of the United States. Therefore, for the purpose of interpreting vaccination records for travel to the United States, CDC will accept combinations of accepted COVID-19 vaccines.

Not Fully Vaccinated by November 10, 2021
You can still participate in ACE 2021 by registering for the virtual option.

Unvaccinated Individuals/Individuals with Medical or Religious Exemptions for Vaccination
You can still participate in ACE 2021 by registering for the virtual option.

Recovered From COVID, Have Antibodies
The CDC strongly advises that all who have had COVID should also be vaccinated. In light of this evidence, IJCAHPO is requiring all attendees be fully vaccinated by November 10, 2021, in order to attend the in-person meeting in New Orleans.

Recovered From COVID-19, Received Monoclonal Antibody Therapy
Treatment with monoclonal antibodies is not a substitute for a vaccine. However, those who were not previously vaccinated and received a monoclonal antibody infusion for COVID-19 cannot be vaccinated within 90 days of their infusion. If you have had COVID-19 AND monoclonal antibody treatment between June 13, 2021, and November 10, 2021, you may register for the in-person meeting in New Orleans. You will need to bring a letter from your physician attesting to your diagnosis and treatment dates in order to obtain your IJCAHPO badge.

Vaccine Verification Process

U.S. Attendees:
IJCAHPO is using CLEAR to validate vaccinations. You will be required to download the application and enroll for free to verify your vaccination. Please make sure you select the Digital Vaccine Card on the application.

You will be required to show that you have verified your vaccination status on-site at ACE 2021.

2. Open the CLEAR app.
3. Scroll down and tap on the blue Digital Vaccine Card tile.
4. Create your account (you will be asked for your phone number and email; to scan a photo ID; and then to take a photo).
5. Follow prompts to add your COVID-19 proof of vaccination. You can securely link to a health provider, scan a SMART QR code or upload your CDC card.

International Attendees:
Bring a copy or photo of your proof of vaccination to on-site ticket pick-up. It should clearly show which vaccine you received and the dates you received each shot. All WHO EUL vaccines will be accepted.
